WINE REVIEW: Canaletto - Montepulciano D'Abruzzo 2019

REVIEW: Canaletto - Montepulciano D'Abruzzo 2019

If appearance was everything, then this probably wouldn't win any awards BUT it is what is inside that counts after all.

This was a medium ruby with limited legs. On the nose, there was signs of morello cherry, raspberry, blackcurrant, milk chocolate and vanilla....the plot thickens....

On the palate, it is certainly fully fermented to dry. Flavour profile backed up the nose with slightly more toasted mouth feel to it, vanilla had eased but still with the backdrop of raspberry and black cherry. The body was good in this wine, verging on full bodied, medium+ acidity, medium+ tannins, medium alcohol. The finish though was the only sour point of note, a little light, it comes with a medium finish when you expect a little more.

Grape Variety: 100% Montepulciano

Food Pairings: Pasta dishes!!

Now for the fun bit...

Average Price: £8 a bottle!

Overall Rating (this does not incorporate price into the assessment else it would be higher): 88/100

If you look at this with price involved, have this at the table every time you cook your pasta for me!
